Sunday, July 26 – Whole-Church Service: Love in the Time of COVID-19

Steven Leigh Williams

In the past few months, our world has changed in ways we could not have anticipated. Even the way we Love has changed – both as a feeling and as an action. As an active verb, Love is at once more strikingly intentional and painfully abstract. We are struggling to grasp a new language that we are making up as we go along. This process feels halting and uncomfortable, and yet it breaks us open to a deeper, more holy way of loving. In this interactive Zoom service, let us pause to take inventory of our new lives. What does love look like to you right now? How can you share love without sharing germs? What is bringing you comfort amid rampant division, isolation, and fear? Where is the sacred in the chaotic? Join me on Sunday to explore these questions together.

Rev. Gary McAlpin

Intersectionality of a Pandemic

While many in our current pandemic have been able to relatively survive, many around the country struggle due to the levels of overlaying oppression and injustice present in everyday life. Today’s sermon will look at our levels of vulnerability and supremacy within this time of crisis.

Sunday, June 14: Current Requirements of Our Faith

Paige Clark

Across the country and the world people are taking to the streets for black lives. What does our UU faith require of us in this moment in history? How can we engage in a movement in the middle of a pandemic? What are our options for activism, and what kinds of roles can we play? Join me for a virtual service where I’ll relay some ideas, resources, and encouragement for us to jump into the work that our faith calls us to do in 2020.

Sunday, June 7: The Personal is Political, and Silence = Death: Reflections on Pride and How Our Faith Calls Us Forward

Steven Leigh Williams

I’ve been celebrating Pride since I was a UU teen standing on a flatbed in one of Tulsa’s first 10-truck Parades. Imagine my surprise when I moved back a few years ago to find the parade snaking through downtown streets filled with thousands of people! Much has changed for the LGBTQ+ community in my lifetime – and it’s come even further since Stonewall. My perspective has also shifted a lot as I’ve learned more about my history and heritage, both as a member of that community and as a Unitarian Universalist. Join me on Sunday for a stroll down memory lane and a look at how our roots are more important now than ever.
