What to Expect in Worship
Our vibrant church is bustling on Sunday mornings. The front entrance of the church will bring you right into our Fellowship Hall. You will find some seating areas where people gather to chat over coffee or tea. Please stop by the visitors’ table, directly to the left of the entrance to make yourself a nametag and pick up some information about our church.
Our programming starts at 10 a.m. with Religious Education for all ages. Children gather in the Children’s Religious Education area, downstairs to the right of the entrance to the Fellowship Hall. There is an accessible entrance to the Children’s Religious Education area from the outside, to the right of the main entrance. Parents and children will be greeted by our Director of Children’s Religious Education or by one of our teachers.
Adults gather for Religious Education in the Sanctuary to the left of the main entrance. Feel free to bring your coffee with you. We explore a variety of topics presented by members and conclude with open discussion time.
The service begins at 11 a.m. On the first Sunday of the month, the children join us. On other Sundays, they have their own service before their regular classes. Children are welcome in the sanctuary at their parent’s discretion.
We begin our service by lighting our chalice, a common ritual in many Unitarian Universalist congregations. Our service is a collaboration between our minister and our music program, where we pause in wonder at the glorious gifts of life and we give thanks for the many blessings we have received. We support one another through the ups and downs of life. We create a space of healing and love where diversity of belief is celebrated. We hope that all find nourishment during our worship together.
Each week, we give away ALL of the undesignated funds from our Sunday offering. The Outreach Committee chooses organizations that support the mission of HOPE Unitarian Church.
As you leave the service, the minister will be happy to greet you.
After our service, we gather for a time of fellowship in the aptly named Fellowship Hall. Refill your coffee and grab a cookie. When it’s nice out, please enjoy our patio or stroll through our memorial garden. Strike up a conversation. We are a friendly bunch and would love to get to know you.
