What is Hope Unitarian Church?
Unitarian Universalism’s long, rich tradition of creedlessly affirming the search for religious truth has never been more relevant than in today’s diverse society. Unitarians believe individuals are responsible for their own spiritual and moral growth, and that reason and conscience— not church, doctrine or dogma — ultimately govern each person’s search. Unitarians stand for religious tolerance and social involvement. In our religious community, we don’t have to believe the same things to love one another.
Hope Unitarian Church has been serving its members and the larger Tulsa community since 1968. The church is a dues-paying member of the Unitarian Universalist Association, but as a free congregation, we democratically elect our own board of trustees and call our own ministers.
Our mission statement:
Hope Unitarian Church is a nurturing, loving community whose foundations are religious freedom, liberal religious education, and moral discernment. The mission of the church is to provide a supportive environment for the free and responsible search for truth and meaning; to sustain the history and tradition of Unitarian Universalism; to celebrate life’s passages; to promote and defend the freedom of thought; and to serve the larger community with justice and compassion.
