Hope Unitarian Church Development Foundation (the Foundation) was incorporated in 1973 to accept and manage funds being donated to build the church's current building. Several years after construction was complete, a member made a generous gift on the condition that the Foundation be reactivated and its purposes redefined.
The Foundation serves as Hope's endowment fund. The church's Board Of Trustees make up the Foundation's membership. They elect the Foundation's Board Of Directors and define its purposes. Presently those purposes are to promote Religious Education (RE) through training and development and to preserve the church's building and grounds. The Foundation also collects funds specifically for the church's growth and long range planning.
Special needs funded by the Foundation fall somewhere between the operating budget and the capital budget, and could easily fall through the cracks. Examples include money for feasibility studies, leadership and RE teacher training, and emergency expenditures to replace items such as kitchen appliances or heating/cooling systems that fail unexpectedly.
Our special challenge is to encourage members to think positively and think in terms of development, enrichment and heritage, and then provide the relatively small amounts of funding required to make their efforts and dreams successful. This can only happen through your generous special assistance.
Your contributions to the Foundation should only be in addition to your generous ongoing support of the operating budget. For once, we don't want your money now, just your promise to share the wealth later.
