Hope's minister since 2002 is the Rev. Jack Bryant. Having practiced law for twenty years before going to seminary, he sometimes calls himself a 'recovering attorney'. Graduating from seminary in 1998 he served two different churches for a year plus a year as a hospital chaplain before accepting a call to Hope. He has a life long commitment to education and the separation of church and state which led him to be one of the founders and first president of Advocates for Public Schools - an Austin, Texas area organization that opposed radical right attacks on public schools and efforts to impose book censorship - efforts that led to his being profiled in Time magazine.
